IdleWords is a idle game where you spell words with tiles to gain  more money. Use money to buy more tiles, progress your tiles further  in the alphabet, and unlock permanent upgrades. Spelling a word  multiplies the output of all letters in that word by the number of letters in the word.

The target word is  a word you can spell to boost the productivity of the tiles you used to spell it with.

Not all letters have the same value. You can get a feel of how valuable it is by that letter's upgrade cost. The more common a letter is, the less its worth, but the easier it is to combo.

GUIDE:
To buy available letters: Drag a letter from the bottom. It costs an amount of "mounie" as indicated below

To get new letters: Hovering on a letter tile will show a pop  up with a price on it. Clicking this pop up will increase the letter's value in the alphabet (A->B->C)

Gaining Mounie: Having tiles on the board will produce the amount of mounie that's listed in the  bottom right of the tile. Spelling words multiplies a tile's value by the number of letters in the word.

Researching: When you have the research tab, you can 'research' letters to allow you to buy tiles of that letter, instead of starting at A. Move a tile with the desired letter into the research tab's open slot, then hit research. This will delete your tile.

I realize there's no actual Win state, but... I filled the 10x10 board, earning over 55k mounies/sec, with a lexicon of 550 words.  I feel like I won.  YAY!  Thanks!

FF, Linux Mint.

Text sizes need some work, e.g. the upgrade prices.
The economy could use some balance, unless there's some strategy I'm missing.
It's quite fun to make a bunch of different words. I got up to a lexicon of 562. But making random words seems to be at odds with making the target word. It can be pretty slow and unrewarding to make the target word, as it's just a temporary boost that often doesn't compensate for the suboptimal configuration you have to make, but also filling out the lexicon seems to offer no reward.
I don't find research to be a worthwhile thing to do because once you're past a certain point, cycling the tiles to other letters doesn't cost very much.

Also, I wish I could drag two tiles over each other to swap them

Also the +1 passive income is useless

Interesting game. Unfortunately it is difficult to play.

- The UI elements / text are VERY small on a high DPI display.

- The dictionary seems limited. It feels bad to invest heavily into a particular common word only for it to not be in the dictionary. (Actually, maybe some other bug is occasionally preventing letters from getting word bonuses)

- It keeps hard-locking my browser, especially when clicking and dragging / trying to research. (Chrome 118, MacOS)

The dictionary shouldnt be missing any words, but its possible that its not being registered if the last letter placed in a word was dragged directly from the tray at the bottom, a fix is coming soon

Yeah, I think that is what I was experiencing. Thanks!

When I drag a letter into research I can't click unlock.

So it doesn't show as clickable but it does register and only updates upon a reload

It happened to me, the LEXICON box covers the button (even if it's closed), if you reduce the size of the website it's solved.

Thank you for all of this! We just released an update that should address these concerns.

This game seems prone to locking up when dropping letters after a certain point.

This should be fixed now

How am I supposed to unlock the tile in the Research tab? It doesn't seem to show the price for it.

Ah! That should be explained better. So, when you have Research unlocked. You can move a tile into the slot in the research tab, and hit research. If you don't have that letter already unlocked, it will delete the letter, and add that  letter to your available letters to buy. Essentially, you will need to buy the tile again, but now you can just start at that letter instead, without having to buy a bunch of upgrades.

how do i unlock more letters

You place the letter "A" then wait for "Mounie" to start accumulating, then you see the upgrade price to the next letter and quit the game because of how long it's taking from the very start of the game.
